On March 13, the ELC will partner with FNWARM (First Nations Women Advocating for Responsible Mining) and Amnesty International to sponsor a special Stand For Water event in Victoria at UVic’s First Peoples House.
The event will include a screening of the film Uprivers, which features Nuskmata (Jacinda Mack), Indigenous advocate for clean water from the Secwepemc, and Carrie James, Tlingit activist from Ketchikan, Alaska.
Nuskmata (FNWARM) and Tara Scurr (Amnesty International) will join us for the post-film panel to share updates on the ongoing Mount Polley Mine disaster. The ELC will also provide updates on the mining law reform partnership project with the MiningWatch Canada and Fair Mining Collaborative.
The event is free, but please register through Eventbrite so we can plan for seating and refreshments.
